Contains two notebooks of names, one specified as a registry of visiting scientists, other materials from the Visiting Scientists Program, King’s bills of purchases for the Northern New England Academy of Science, two grade books and other course materials, materials relating to his work with the State Academies of Science Program and a proposed Conference on Mechanics for College Teachers with the National Science Foundation, scientific journals... with articles by other authors, miscellaneous correspondence, several copies of a photograph of scientific apparatus, and five notebooks containing lecture notes. Also contains handwritten and typewritten drafts, critiques, accompanying images, and published versions of King’s “Inflation-Deflation Characteristics of Rubber Balloons,” “Free Longitudinal Vibrations of Rubber and Tissue Strips,” “Elasticity of the Aortic Wall,” “Note in Memory of Blind John Gough,” “The Elasticity of Soft Body Tissues,” “Photoelectric and Thermionic Investigations of Thoriated Tungsten Surfaces,” “Bacteria and their Flagella,” “Ring Method for Measuring Elastic Moduli,” and “Oscillations of a Loaded Rubber Band.”
