The oral history interview of Chauncey Allen is comprised of two audiocassette recordings and a tape log of the recordings. The interview was conducted by Arthur Wilson on Oct. 16, 1974 in Hanover, NH. The entire interview runs for approximately one and a half hours. Allen describes the Psychology department faculty and students, tensions among the Dartmouth Eye Institute (DEI), reorganization of the faculty in 1934, department difficulties with Dean Bill, development of the Great Issues course, and the three-term system. He describes town-gown relationships in the 1920s, and the social life available to young faculty. Allen mentions members of the DEI, John Masland, Gordon Bill, Don Morrison, Gordon Alport, Frances King, Mrs. Hopkins, and discusses WWII.
