Ruth Marie Adams, President of Wellesley College, and Dartmouth College Vice President and Professor of English. Oral history interview discussing her role as first female vice president of the college during the 1970s. In particular, the interview discusses Dartmouth’s transition to coeducation, as well as the response and backlash within the Dartmouth community. Adams also discusses the recruitment of female faculty and minority students, as well has her impressions of DC presidents John Kemeny and David McLaughlin. Interviewed by Jane L. Carroll in Hanover, N.H. on May 29, 1996.
