The collection contains popular sheet music, collected by Charles Hamm, from the late 19th to mid 20th century, arranged by composer last name. Publishers include Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Chas K. Harris, Richard Rodgers, Orchestra Monthly, Harms Incorporated, Sam Fox Publishing Company, New World Music Corporation, Mills Music Publishing, Robbins Music Corporation and Remick Music Corporation. The collection was assembled by Charles Hamm (1925-2011), a prominent American musicologist and former Professor of Music at Dartmouth College who helped establish the field of American popular music history with his prolific publication, including titles such as “Yesterdays: Popular Song in America” (1979), “Music in the New World” (1983), and “Putting Popular Music in its Place” (1995).
