Description
The records of the Hanover Press contain primarily job orders and samples of printings including proofs, tickets, bookplates, letterheads, invitiations, acknowledgements, announcements, calling cards, envelopes, gummed labels, posters, flyers, award certificates and other printed ephemera. The Press' largest client was Dartmouth College, its departments, organzations and affiliates. Local businesses including the Nugget Theatre, the Church of Christ, Howe Library, the Hanover Inn, Rand Funeral Home, the Midget Diner and Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, as well as alumni and prominent figures such as Paul Sample, John Scotford, Stephen Harvard and Ray Nash were also clients. Even though the Press' focus was on the Upper Valley, they also worked for Phillips Exeter Academy, the Boston Public Library, and the American Antiquarian Society. Financial and business records including accounts payable and receivable and ledgers can also be found here. One of several vendors was the Stinehour Press.
