Herma Briffault papers
Description
The collection contains the unpublished typescript of "North to the Indies," by Herman Briffault, a study of the Overland Telegraph Expedition, 1864-1867. The purpose of the expedition was to lay a telegraph line from California to Alaska and then across the Bering Sea to Russia. Correspondence with Vilhjalmur Stefansson about her work and some research notes are also included.
