Two-page letter from Mrs. Mary Caroline Alsop (King) Hale to Benjamin Hale in which he reports about letters received. Dr. Merrill of Portland asks for recommendations from Prof. Hale, Drs. Oliver and Mussey to help secure appointment to the Marine hospital. This may be built if Congress appropriates the money.
