Description

The papers of Florence M. Sherk contain a typescript of her book "Stout Hearts for Stey Braes: Life, People and Events in an outside Rupert's Land in the Closing Years of the Hudson's Bay Company and a Glance at the Group of Sturdy Men Who Labored to Hold the Fort for the Fur Trade." Includes previously unpublished private letters of Donald Ross of Norway House, Sir George Simpson, Sir James Douglas, Earl Cathcart, Thomas Simpson, Bishop Anderson, Peter Skene Ogden and other chief officers of he Hudson's Bay Company and their contemporaries.
