Four-page letter from McClintock, the chief clerk and secretary of the treasury, ad interim, to an unidentified recipient in which he tells him that he is pleased with the nomination of Dr. Leland to the Senate. The nomination of Taney as secretary of the treasury rejected by the Senate by influence of "King Nicholas" Biddle. Bill passed for regulation of depository banks.
