Description
The collection contains the journal of Elizabeth F. Washburn chronicling her experiences on board the Hudson's Bay Company's supply ship "Rupertsland." Includes accounts of visits to Rankin Islet, Cherterfield Inlet, Sugluk, Cape Dorset, Igloolik, Lake Harvour, and Frobisher Bay as well as descriptions of the living conditions of the Indigenous peoples she encountered, including Inuit and Chipewyans (referred to as "Eskimos"), and descriptions of Hudson's Bay and Baffin Island areas. An account of bird sightings is also included.
