Description
General oder by Mahlon Dickerson to the Officers of Navy and Marine Corps on the death of James Madison, former President on June 28. Presidential directive that all vessels of Navy wear colours half mast for one week, that 21 minutes guns be fired at each Navy yard and in all public vessels, at 13 o'clockon day after this order is received. And the officers of Navy and Marine Corps were "crape" on left arm for six months.
