Description
Six-page letter from George Ticknor to Jeremiah Mason, saying he is in quarrantine and has time to write a last. Compares the current conditions in Europe with the state of things 20 years ago and notes the increase in population, wealth, number of roads, etc. Says the lower classes are emancipated, and the upper classes seem not to have learned any lessons from the recent wars.
