Description

Four-page letter from S.M. Ball in Richmond, Virginia to Thomas R. Love, Fairfax Court House, Virginia in which he discusses legal cases in which he is concerned and discusses election of US Senator and the candidacy for William C. Rivers for re-election. At top of first page in the hand of G.P. Putnam is the handwritten note:"Picked up at Fairfax C.H., Va. July 21, 1861 (on the day of the Battle of Bull Run.")
