Description
Three-page letter from Barrington Anthony in Providence, Rhode Island to Daniel Webster, saying he has heard there are 3 or 4 applicants for the office he holds as Marshall in the district of R.I. Assures him he has never used his office for political purposes, points out that both of his deputies were always politically opposed to him. Emphasizes his ability to fill the office and his great financial need to support 8 motherless children. (Photocopy)
