Description

Letter from Daniel Webster to Washington Irving in which he states that despite some difficulties the President will nominate Alexander Hamilton Jr. (in clerical hand, signed). Hamilton was the son of James Alexander Hamilton and Irving's choice for Secretary to the legation at Madrid. The nomination presented some difficulties, due to Hamilton's political position. Docketed by Irving on verso.
