Description

Letter from Daniel Webster in Washington, DC to Lady Ashburton in which he Comments on the arrival of Lord Ashburton, envoy from Great Britain. Webster mentions that Ashburton has taken a house next to his own and anticipates the diplomatic work ahead between him and Ashburton. Their work resulted in the Treaty of Washington (1842), popularly known as the Webster-Ashburton Treaty. Webster reminisces about a previous trip to England as well.
