Description
Six-page letter from Daniel Webster to [Issac Chapman Bates], talking about that the state of things in Congress is bad. The Tariff bill will probably pass the House, containing a repeal of certain provisions of the land distribution bill, much to the regret of writer. Hopes that addressee will consider the propriety of passing the bill through the Senate in that shape. (Photocopy)
