Daniel Webster letter
Description
Three-page letter from Daniel Webster in Marshfield to Nathaniel Sawyer, telling him that the opinions he expressed at Faneuil Hall were forced upon him by the deepest and most honest convictions and could not withhold them although he was aware that he would encounter much reproach. "My attachment to true principles is undiminished." Writer visited his and addressee's native state and town. Salisbury is improved in some respects but its moral and political tone is no better than "when we were boys."
