George W. Clymer letter
Description
George Willing Clymer writes to his wife [Mary Shubrick Clymer] concerning the Liberian Colonization Society's efforts in settling Liberia. In particular Clymer, a US Naval surgeon, discusses the problem of malaria and its effects on those colonists who remain in Monrovia or go to the interior. Clymer also outlines the Society's program for introducing the colonists to Liberia and discusses in racialized language the colonists and his view of them as a group.
