Two-page petition to the United States Treasury Department by some 40 merchants and public figures, including Rufus Choate, relating to the acquisition by the federal government of a block of buildings adjacent to the Customs House in Boston. Included handwritten endorsement in the hand of Daniel Webster and signed by Webster and Robert C. Winthrop.
