Letter from Daniel Webster to Elias Warner Leavenworth in which Webster relays to an unknown correspondent a conversation in which Thomas Deblois, attorney of Portland, Maine, denigrated his character. In the context of a conversation about the chances of a cabinet appointment for George Evans, senator from Maine and friend of Webster, Deblois charged Webster with betraying political friends.
