Description

The collection contains first draft and final script for the stage play of "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." The first draft belonged to Director John C. Wilson and the final draft to composer Jule Styles. The scipts were based on the book by Anita Loos. Additional materials include telegrams and notes offering luck and congratulations on several productions of the play to and from Director Wilson, extensive financial statements issued by J.H. Cohn & Co. concerning the production and Playbills for the productions at the Ziegfeld theatre and Palace theatre (Chicago). The play opened at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City on December 8, 1949, and ran for a total of 740 performances.
