Four-page letter from J.Q. Brigham at Crawford House, White Mountains, New Hampshire to Cleveland Abbe, concerning Mr. Washington as an observation post, including the needs and expenses of boarding a man on the summit, weather conditions, fuel supply etc. Suggests Abbe visit in person. Includes letter from Joseph henry, Secretary of the Smithonian Institution to Cleveland Abbe also about establishing a series of observatons on Mt. Washington. (Photocopy)
