Description
Twenty-three pages of documents relating to fire aboard whaling ship, "Congress" out of New Bedford, including forms of protest drawn up by US Consuls, Charles W. Drury, port of Mongonui, New Zealand and Alfred Caldwell, port of Honolulu, describing incident and damages suffered. Also included are a call warrant, survey of damages and necessary repairs as well as receipted bills for repairs to ship and arrangements for payment. Signed by Alex J. Cartwright, merchant of Honolulu.
