Description

The papers of the Wells family contain personal correspondence, business papers and the commencement dialogues of Nathaniel Wells and Luther Jewett which were delivered at Dartmouth in 1795. Letters of Moses H. Wells describing student life at Dartmouth College, a copybook of Elizabeth Jane Wells Humphrey with references to religious life in Wells, Maine and at Dartmouth College are also included. Material also includes references to Lyman Beecher and J.G. Birney speaking at Dartmouth, the latter giving an anti-slavery address.
