Description
Donald L. Kreider, Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science Emeritus 1960-1997. Oral history interview documenting Kreider’s tenure as a professor at Dartmouth College, and his role in the burgeoning Time Sharing System at Dartmouth College. In particular, Kreider describes John Kennedy, President Emeritus, in great detail, including his defining character traits, his leadership qualities, his decision to recruit high school teachers to the math department, and his ultimate influence in shaping a remarkable math department at Dartmouth College. Finally, Krieder recounts the contribution that intelligent undergraduate students made in creating the Dartmouth Time Sharing System, and the external impact of Dartmouth’s Math and Computer Science programs had on institutions such as the College Board.
