Thomas E. Kurtz and John S. McGeachie oral history interview May Be Restricted
Description
Thomas E. Kurtz and John S. McGeachie, Class of 1965. Oral history interview in which Kurtz and McGeachie give an incredibly detailed and technical account of the evolution of computing at Dartmouth. McGeachie and Kurtz talk about the communication between the 235 and the DATANET-30, as well as writing compilers, executive programs and ALGOL. McGeachie also talks about his time at General Electric and his fellow undergraduates working on the Dartmouth Time Sharing System, such as Mike Busch. Both Kurtz and McGeachie comment on the commercial appeal and demand for the programs produced at Dartmouth, and the lack of literature produced about the remarkable feat of student and professor collaboration.
