Jacob Jameson letter
Description
Letter from Jacob Jimeson [Jameson, Jemison] Moor's Indian Charity School, Hanover, NH, to Jabez B. Hyde at Buffalo, NY. Jimeson wrote both for himself and for James Stephenson, another member of the Seneca Nation who was attending the school. In the letter, Jimeson worries that his last letter displeased Hyde; asks after friends at home in the Buffalo area; states that he and Stephenson have been "patient" while at school and that it is harder to be studious than it was at first; asks for money to buy shoes and breeches and to return home; and mentions the poor health of John Wheelock. A postscript describes how a Native American named John Alexander was given 50 cents by President Allen to travel 200 miles home to St. Regis.
