Description
The papers of Paul Sample contain correspondence, primarily with Herbert West, magazine clippings with Sample illustrations, programs, Christmas and New Years cards featuring sample paintings, programs, photographs of paintings and of Paul Sample, as well as sketchbooks. The papers focus on his work as an illustrator for magazine articles, advertisements, calendars and greeting cards.
Original artwork and some sketchbooks were transferred to the Hood Museum in 1983, 2000 and 2012.
