Thomas E. F. McNamara forgeries collection
Description
The collection contains examples of Thomas E.F. McNamara's forgeries of Robert Frost and Langston Hughes poems. Framed forgeries are of Frost's "The Minor Bird" and "A Year of Leaves," and of Langston Hughes' "Boy Playing with a Flute." Each framed forgery is certified as original by McNamara and stamped as a forgery and as property of the United States by Postal inspectors. There are also unframed forgeries of Robert Frost's "Dust of Snow," "It's Almost the Year Two Thousand," "The Common Fate," and "The Rose Family," a letter from the U.S. Postal Inspector , and several photographs. The forgeries were used as evidence in the case U.S. vs. McNamara.
