Orford murals collection
Description
The collection contains photographs of the murals discovered in the Dyar Hinckley house on Orford Ridge in Orford. The house is now owned by Mrs. Howard K. Beale. The photographs were taken after the discovery and cleaning of the murals. Porter was an itinerant artist active in northern New England. He completed work on these murals sometime between 1825 and 1835. Included with the photographs are notes and printed materials relating to the artist, the house, and the murals.
