Thomas Orde-Lees diary
Description
The collection contains Thomas Orde Lees diary, recording events during the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914-1917) on which he served. Includes a ten-page incomplete typescript continuation of the diary which takes the story through Orde-Lees' rescue. This diary was used by the expedition leader, Sir Ernest Shackleton, in his book "South" and certain passages are marked by Orde-Lees for easy reference. A preservation photocopy of the diary is also included.
