Description

The collection contains two volumes, each partially filled with copied letters from Daniel Poor and Susan (Bulfinch) Poor to their friends and family members, written while the couple was living as missionaries in Tellippalai, Sri Lanka. The second volume also contains a memorial to Susan written by Daniel after her death in 1821. Collection also includes 7 letters, mostly of Daniel Poor, regarding his missionary work, with some reference to word formation in Sinhalese.

Daniel Poor (1789-1855 ), Presbyterian missionary and educator. Dartmouth College Class of 1911. The papers contain two letter books of contemporary copies of correspondence of Daniel and Susan Poor to family in the United States. Also includes 7 original letters of Daniel Poor regarding his missionary work.
