Description

The papers of Benjamin West contain a journal he kept while a student at Dartmouth College, as well as pen and ink drawings by West. In the journal, started when he was a seventeen year old freshman, West chronicles his daily activities and those of his family. The sketches depict scenes, some with quotes, from books by Charles Dickens, including Oliver Twist and The Pickwick Papers.
