Description

The collection contains the manuscript of Alphonso Wood's journal "Botanic notes taken in travel along the Atlantic and the golf states." Transcriptions of the journal, in three parts, by Willard W. Eggleston, as well as photographs and negatives of an additional journal kept by Wood during his passage to San Francisco in 1865, are also included.

Alphonso Wood (1810-1881), botanist. Dartmouth College Class of 1834. The collection consists of his journal with botany notes taken during a travel along the Atlantic and gulf states, as well as a transcription of the journal by Willard W. Eggleston (1863-1935), botanist, Dartmouth College Class of 1891.
