Description

The collection contains land surveys, deeds, legal writings, diary pages, political pamphlets, photographs and maps related to members of the Bezaleel Woodward family. Members represented are Bezaleel Woodward (1745-1804), son-in-law to Eleazar Wheelock and first librarian of Dartmouth College, his son William Henry Woodward (1774-1818), Henry's son William Gustavus Woodward (1808-1871), a judge in Iowa, and Gustavus' son William Woodward. Of note is a manuscript of musings on the death of Charles Carroll, the last surviving member of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
