Description

The papers of Brock Brower contain typewritten drafts of his articles, books, poems and book reviews, some with printed articles, galleys, and research as well as family and professional correspondence. Of note is the correspondence with Joan Dideon Dunn and other notables, including Norman Mailer, Thomas Wolfe, Robert S. McNamara, Arthur Penn, and Dan Wakefield. The process of his writing is revealed in correspondence with editors and handwritten notes on the people he covered, often political figures. The papers also document his time as senior speechwriter in the office of the Attorney General, including written versions of many speeches. Some personal documents related to his military service and his wife, Ann Montgomery Brower as well as his father and mother are also included.
