In 1850 District #12 hired its first female teacher, who received 56 “cents” for 3 days work. The meetings were held every March and October from March 7, 1826 – October 11, 1837; March only, from March 13, 1838 – March 18, 1847 and thereafter on irregular intervals from October 1, 1847 – March 13, 1868.
