Description
The papers of Walter H. Lillard consist of correspondence, clippings, photographs, and a year book. In addition, they contain manuscripts detailing his acquaintance and involvement with important people and events of his time. The manuscript entitled "Memorable Men of My Time (whose trails I have crossed)," includes accounts of Presidents Taft, Roosevelt and McKinley, Thomas Edison, Winston Churchill, Admiral Nimitz, John Philip Sousa and William Jewett Tucker. Letters to his wife, sent during his time at The International Refugee Organization in Vienna, and letters from a refugee, Lillard helped relocate, are also included. The letters are photocopies of the originals which had to be discarded due to preservation issues
