Description

The papers of Gail Osherenko contain articles, typescripts, reprints, notes, conference and workshop material and some correspondence related to her research on the Arctic region, its resources and environmental challenges. Subjects include the Pearson Dickey Conferences, Indigenous People, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska, Russia, Area X of the US Man in Biosphere (MAB) program, the Arctic Working Group on International Relations, the International Arctic Science Committee, conservation of polar bears, Mongolia, co-management of wildlife and the environmental impact of Chernobyl. The material is in Russian and English. Drafts and research related to her involvement with the Polar Bear Agreement resulting in an article co written by her entitled "Polar Bears: The Importance of Simplicity" are also included.
