Frank Hallman letters on the printing of D'Aulnoy's "Fortunia"
Description
The collection contains three letters concerning the difficulty of printing the Maurice Sendak illustrated edition of Madame D'Aulnoy's 'Fortunia." A printers proof copy is included. The letters attribute the problems of production to Sendak and his dissatisfaction with the Oliphant and Stinehour Press' attempt at reproducing his drawings letter press. Hallman and Sendak settled on Meriden-Gravure to conduct the printing.
