Franklin Smallwood oral history interview
Description
The oral history interview of Franklin Smallwood is comprised of audiocassette recordings and a digitized transcript of the recordings. The interview was conducted by Mary Donin during March and April 2003. Frank Smallwood served under four Dartmouth presidents from John Dickey through James Freedman. In addition to his faculty appointment, he held a number of administrative positions, including vice president and dean for student affairs under John Kemeny. His interview covers a broad range of topics that cover his undergraduate years, his work on the Trustees Planning Committee that changed the make-up of the Board of Trustees prior to the College's bicentennial in 1969 through his role in the planning and creation of the Rockefeller Center for the Social Sciences. The entire interview runs for approximately five hours and covers his undergraduate years and his faculty and administrative career at Dartmouth, serving under four presidents.
