Three-page letter from Israel Warburton Putnam of Danvers, Massachusetts to Andrew Mack in Hanover, New Hampshire, informing him that Dartmouth scholars have a "want of taste. Another conspicuous trait is their pedandtry, an example of which is in the character of their P___. Dr. Smith's success in 'gouching' astonishing."
