Description

The Papers of Albert Operti contains correspondence with Arctic explorers, including David L. Brainard and Henry Biederbeck, survivors of the Lady Franklin Bay Expedition, Capt. J. E. Bernier, Donald B. MacMillan, and others. Letters discuss Operti's involvement in expeditions to the Arctic and career as an artist. Also includes a 43 x 58 cm. watercolor painting on fiberboard by Operti of Peary's steamship "Hope" encountering whalers at sea, probably painted during the Greenland expedition of 1896.
