John Armstrong letter
Description
Letter from John Armstrong in Washington, DC to Robert Brent with a report from Maj.Gen. Fales that the district paymaster had returned to Buffalo with funds to pay staff on light artillery there. 13th Co. has been in service a year and had not received no pay or bounties. "Under these circumstances, says the Maj.Gen, it is difficult to repress mutiny and the soldiers declare it is a sufficient reason for desertion."
