Correspondence of Benjamin Hale with references to his work as Prof. of Chemistry at Dartmouth College and later as President of Geneva College. Other subjects include religous life at Dartmouth College, pulpit supply of St.Paul's Church, Boston, the concerns of the Episcopal Church in New England, speculations on successor to Bennet Tyler as President of Dartmouth, reference to the cholera epidemic of 1832, oblique reference to Hale's dismissal from Dartmouth College faculty. Also includes correspondence relative to the purchase of several letters.
