The collection contains correspondence, notes, typescripts, and manuscript drafts comprising the research conducted by Frederick Chase for his "History of Dartmouth College and the Town of Hanover," published in 1891. Also includes the research materials of John King Lord, who continued Chase's project, published as volume II of the history ("A History of Dartmouth College, 1815-1909," published in 1913) and as a third volume, "A History of Hanover" (published in 1928).
