Asa Lyon letter
Description
Letter from Asa Lyon of Grand Isle to C. Pitt Grosvenor, John Aiken, S.G. Tenney and Rufus Choate, telling them that the libraries of teh Society of Social Friends and the United Fraternity were always the private property of the two faculties. The attempt of Profs. Allen, Dean and Carter to appropriate them to the University library was entirely unwarranted. On the same sheet, under date of May 30, 1867, C.Pitt Grosvenor mentions the attempted robbery and the defence by the students,
