Gilman Frost papers

The collection consists of correspondence, notes, and clippings compiled by Dr. Gilman Frost while conducting genealogical research on Hanover, Lyme, and Orford, New Hampshire families. His handwritten notes on index cards for all three towns still remain within the collection; the Hanover cards were typed as part of a WPA project, circa 1935.

Gilman Frost was born in Randolph, Vermont, in 1864, and received medical degrees from Dartmouth and Harvard in 1892, He practiced medicine in Hanover, New Hampshire, and was a professor at the Dartmouth Medical School. During his career he gathered genealogical data on Hanover, Lyme and Orford, New Hampshire families. This collection comprises correspondence, notes, and clippings compiled by Dr. Gilman Frost during his genealogical research. As a WPA project, Frost's handwritten notes on Hanover families were typed onto index cards. Notes on Lyme and Orford families remain in his hand. The bulk of the data recorded relates to events predating 1930, but additional later notes do occur. Dr. Frost died in Hanover, May 27, 1942.
