Description
Letter from Richard Mentor Johnson in Washington, DC to Col. Towson, Paymaster-General of Army, requesting him to "take a draft upon Bank of Edwardsville for the sum of $40-45,000" to pay troops "to preent the necessity of transmitting the specie to Louisville from that place (Edwardville, Indiana). This request is in response to whishes of Mr. Crawford and Mr. Calhoun.
